\n
\n1) You have a great topic and I like your justification for it. I also think the sub-topics you listed sound like they will fit in quite well with the unit and your texts.
\n
\n2) I also like the young adult novels you chose, and I like that you chose to only have students read a portion of the play. This will allow them to spend more time on the texts that may be more meaningful or exciting to them. However, if students want, they coud also read the rest of the play on their own.
\n
\n3) I was wondering if perhaps you could give a little more of a description of what the students might do with the material. For instance, what type of creative writing projects might they do? Or, is there a major culminating project? Basically, I was wondering if there is something big they will be working on or if there will be a lot of small things that they will work on.
\n
\n4) There are a few points where you might want to look at your word choice. I am not sure if this following phrase is correct or not: "...teenage disposition to fit in." I think I would use a different word in place of "disposition." Perhaps you might use "tendency" or something along those lines.
\n
\n5) There are also a few sentences that seem a bit long. I would just read through the paper again for flow and see where you might want to put a comma or start a new sentence.
\n
\n6) Also, I think I would replace the word "things" in the last paragraph with something more descriptive.
\n
\nOverall, nice job! I think this will be an exciting and well-thought out unit!","replyPages":[{"page":0,"digests":[],"more":0}]},{"id":"35742574","dateCreated":"1299877635","smartDate":"Mar 11, 2011","userCreated":{"username":"DrTAdkins-Coleman","url":"https:\/\/www.wikispaces.com\/user\/view\/DrTAdkins-Coleman","imageUrl":"https:\/\/www.wikispaces.com\/user\/pic\/1274981715\/DrTAdkins-Coleman-lg.jpg"},"monitored":false,"locked":false,"links":{"self":"https:\/\/nataliegriffin.wikispaces.com\/share\/view\/35742574"},"dateDigested":1532144784,"startDate":null,"sharedType":"discussion","title":"Review of Draft","description":"Natalie, as you know, students evaluated each other\u2019s papers in class this week, so you may want to invite the members of your literature circle to evaluate yours. In the meantime, I will provide feedback using the structure we discussed in class (1. Compliments \u2013 what did you do well, 2. Suggestions \u2013 what would improve your paper, and 3. Corrections \u2013 where would your paper benefit from editing):
\n
\n1. It is helpful that you divided your theme into sub-themes to make the unit more organized and focused. Also, your second paragraph provides a compelling argument to support the focus on this theme.
\n
\n2. While you explore how students will understand your theme thoroughly, you also need to explain what English\/language arts skills (i.e., persuasive writing, inferences, figurative language) students will acquire during the unit. Also, include an explanation of any anticipated counterarguments against your unit and your rebuttal to these arguments.
\n
\n3. Your paper would benefit from proofreading, so I encourage you or one of your friends read through it again to identify specific areas within the paper. Also, be sure to italicize or underline book titles.","replyPages":[{"page":0,"digests":[],"more":0}]}],"more":false},"comments":[]},"http":{"code":200,"status":"OK"},"redirectUrl":null,"javascript":null,"notices":{"warning":[],"error":[],"info":[],"success":[]}}
